The Project
The client operates a warehouse and separate office block in London and wanted to reduce electricity costs across both buildings.
The project involved a large 146-panel solar PV system, with energy shared between the warehouse and office via two inverters: one 50kW and one 8kW.
Access to the roof presented a challenge because it was reached via a small road. A cherry picker was therefore required both to access the roof and lift the solar panels into position.
The warehouse was used for food storage, so maintaining the correct internal temperature throughout the installation was essential. The separate office also remained occupied, requiring us to work carefully to minimise disruption to staff.
SolarEdge optimisers were incorporated into the system to reduce the impact of shading and help the installation operate at its optimum capacity.
The customer was very happy with the completed installation and has since returned to discuss adding battery storage to capture excess solar generation.
The Challenge
Limited Roof Access
Access to the roof was via a small road, requiring a cherry picker to reach the roof and lift the panels into position.
Maintaining Operations
The warehouse was used for food storage, so the required internal temperature needed to be maintained throughout the installation. The office also remained occupied by staff.
Managing Shading
The system needed to account for potential shading while maintaining strong performance across the installation.
Our Solution
Large-Scale Solar Installation
A 146-panel solar PV system was installed, with energy shared between the warehouse and office via 50kW and 8kW inverters.
SolarEdge Optimisers
Optimisers were installed to minimise the effects of shading and help the system operate at its optimum capacity.
Careful Planning
A cherry picker provided the required roof access, while the installation was carefully managed to minimise disruption to the warehouse operation and office staff.
